Ok, we know what you're thinking.
You're thinking 'I want to go on a night out, a great night out. I want to go to a club where I can listen to great music by the best artists. Somewhere where I can sit in the sunshine and drink pretty little drinks (or beer if you really want) with the beautiful people. Somewhere where I can groove the night away and go to work the next morning with a smile on my face and a happy ache in my head.
'But,' you think (because we know you care) 'what about other people in this world? What about those who can't go and see great live bands and storming DJs because their local club got bulldozed by the army? What about people who can't go out after dark because it's just no fun being shot at? What about those who have lived for years under a repressive occupation and have barely two rats to rub together?'
We at Peace-not-War understand what you're saying. And we have the solution you've all been waiting for.
From 6pm on the 19 July @ Cargo in Shoreditch, East London we present a night of incredible music and international stars from Britain and the Middle East in aid of the Palestinian International Solidarity Movement. And all you have to do is drink, dance, listen to the best of world music, and have the time of your life celebrating the diversity of our existence and raising a few quid for others.
We're going to share the love by giving you multi award winning Soweto Kinch, one of the most exciting and versatile young musicians to hit the British Jazz and Hip Hop scenes in recent years. Soweto is one of only a few artists whose appeal traverses underground and mainstream audiences alike, and who is equally respected in Jazz and Hip Hop circles.
We're going to expand your mind with the incredible Foosha Arabic rap of Eslam Jawaad. A household name in the Middle Eastern Hip-hop scene he is famous for his deep narrative voice and his rich poetic word play in the classic Arabic language style of Foosha.
We're going to get you hip-hopping across the dancefloor to DJ 279. Over the years 279 has gained many accolades for his now legendary show "Friday Nite Flavas " including 3 MOBO nominations and an EMMA award in 2000 for best radio presenter. 279 regularly rips up dancefloors all over the UK and Europe.
And, if that's not enough, we're also going to give you Shadia Mansour, David J, Planetman and the Internationalz, The Invasion Sound System, feat. MC Spex formerly of Asian Dub Foundation and The Rub. All hosted by the irrepressible Bass6 (beatboxer and host) it promises to be a night of stunning music raising money for an important cause.
